Club Information

The Saints Hockey Club completed its inaugural season in 2025-26. The club is comprised of District 230 (Victor J. Andrew, Carl Sandburg, and Amos Alonzo Stagg High Schools) and Tinley Park and Homewood Flossmoor High Schools. The Club competes in the Illinois West Hockey League. The varsity team won the 2025 Gopher State Veterans Cup and MHT Chicago tournaments and was a finalist in the MLK on the Beach Tournament in Sarasota, Fl.

Position Description

The Saints Hockey Club is seeking a dedicated and experienced Varsity Hockey Head Coach/Program Leader to lead and develop our high school hockey program. The ideal candidate will foster student-athlete growth, promote sportsmanship, build a competitive and positive team culture with energy, vision, and commitment to building a strong foundation for long-term success.

Depending on the candidate’s experience and vision, this role may focus primarily on head coaching responsibilities or may expand to include program development and leadership such as strengthening the program structure, building community relationships, and helping guide the future growth of the hockey program. Key Responsibilities

The Head Coach will have responsibility for all aspects of the program, including mentorship and oversight of the assistant coaches, providing leadership in the ongoing development, growth, and improvement of the program. The Head Coach will execute effective teaching and coaching techniques to help the athletes optimize their athletic skill, acumen, and attitude, and maintain a focus on culture and leadership development. This role involves working closely with players of various skill levels, fostering their development, and promoting teamwork and sportsmanship. The Hockey Coach will be responsible for creating an engaging training environment that encourages players to improve their skills while having fun.

Specific responsibilities include:

- Plan, organize, and conduct all practices
- Develop individual and team skills, strategies, and conditioning programs
- Promote academic success and positive behavior among student-athletes
- Supervise assistant coaches and coordinate program development at all levels
- Ensure compliance with league policies
- Communicate effectively with players, parents, and Board of Directors 

Qualifications

- Previous hockey coaching experience (high school or higher preferred)
- Strong knowledge of hockey fundamentals, systems, and player development
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to motivate and mentor student-athletes
